What we collect

When you use the iPhone app, we process the name, portrait, city, time zone and optional status you choose for your profile. An anonymous account identifier is created so you can start using the app; you can link Sign in with Apple to restore access on another device. We process private invite codes and membership of your shared space.

Content you choose to make or share can include notes, photos, drawings, voice postcards, replies, reactions, quiz answers, daily photos, plans, letters and shared pet actions. Media and text may also be stored on your device so the app can load promptly and keep pending work safe.

If you choose to share approximate distance, the app requests your location when you update it and rounds coordinates to roughly 0.1 degrees before sharing them for the distance calculation. The app does not continuously track location in the background. Saved cities can be used to show local time and weather; the weather request may use the approximate location of that city.

We process device and push-notification identifiers needed to deliver notifications and update widgets. We also receive limited app-usage events, such as completing onboarding or sending a moment, without the content of your notes, photos or recordings. Apple purchase transactions and associated account identifiers are processed to verify Premium access.

How we use it

• To create and maintain your account and one private shared space.
• To deliver content and notifications to the other connected person, and keep the app and widgets in sync.
• To provide features you choose, including local skies, countdowns, daily photos, quizzes and Premium access.
• To troubleshoot, secure and improve the service using limited operational and product-usage information.
• To answer support requests and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Who can see your content

Your shared content is designed for the two accounts in your space. The other connected person can see material you send or save to that space, subject to a feature’s reveal rules; for example, Photo of the Day keeps a partner’s photo hidden until both people submit. SameSky has no public feed or searchable profiles. Anyone who receives a current private invite code can attempt to join before it expires, so share it only with the person you intend to invite.

We do not sell private content or use it for advertising. Service providers process information to operate the app: Google Firebase for authentication, cloud data, media, notifications and limited analytics; Apple for Sign in with Apple, purchases, WeatherKit and push delivery; RevenueCat for purchase records; and, if WeatherKit is unavailable, Open-Meteo for weather at the saved city. Our public website is hosted through Cloudflare, which may process technical request data such as IP addresses. The website has no advertising cookies or analytics scripts at this time.

Storage and transfers

Cloud content is hosted using Firebase services; providers may process data outside your country. We use account and shared-space access controls for app data and media, and providers’ operational safeguards. No internet service can promise absolute security. Device copies and backups may persist according to your device settings and the relevant provider’s retention practices.

How long information stays

We keep account and shared-space information while needed to provide the service, unless you delete it or applicable law requires a different period. You can remove your own moments in the app. Unpairing ends your access to that shared space, while the other person retains the shared history. If you then delete your account, we remove your account record; content already shared with the other person may remain in that person’s history, including attribution needed to understand it. Contact us about a particular item or deletion request and we will review what can be removed, subject to the other person’s rights and legal obligations. Operational backups and provider records may take additional time to expire.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile, change notification preferences, turn approximate distance off, export a private archive, delete your own moments, unpair, or delete your account from Your Space in the app. You can ask us for access, correction, deletion, or other privacy assistance at sameskyapp@pm.me. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights and the right to complain to your data-protection authority. Deleting an account does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage that separately in your Apple account.

Children and changes

SameSky is intended for people able to form a private shared space and is not directed at children under 13. We may update this policy as the app changes. The latest version and effective date will appear here. If a change materially affects how we handle data, we will take appropriate steps to tell users.
